Kristin
Judge and her family have been
residents of Washtenaw County
for 12 years. She is proud to
be a dedicated wife and mother
to her husband of 16 years and
two children. Prior to moving
to Michigan, she graduated from
Northern Arizona University with
a B.S. in Education. After teaching
6th grade, Kristin returned to
school to earn a Masters in Counseling
and Masters in Education from
Arizona State University.
Kristin
is a proud member of the Michigan
Democratic Party believing in
representative government that
works for the people. She is the
currently elected Vice-President
of the Ann Arbor based group,
Women Progressive Activists.
As
an active member of the Saline
Area Schools community, she has
participated in the Long Range
Planning Committee (LRPC), STARS
program, and many PTA and PTO
activities including board positions.
Kristin is well aware of budget
issues facing schools and all
Michigan governmental entities
after her experience on the revenue
committee for the LRPC. After
learning of the financial shortfalls
in the school budgets, Kristin
led the STARS program and raised
$55,000 for the school district
general fund to directly pay salaries
of Union Staff.
As
a grass-roots activist, Kristin
was involved in Pittsfield Community
First and their efforts to protect
jobs, preserve wetlands and secure
road improvements to Michigan
Avenue for the safety of residents.
The work done by Pittsfield Community
First directly resulted in $3
million dollars of additional
road improvements on Michigan
Avenue paid for by developers
and not tax payers.
Kristin’s
interest in children and prevention
was heightened during her work
as a Community Educator for Planned
Parenthood and her training as
an Adolescent Health Trainer.
To
prepare for the position of County
Commissioner, Kristin has been
meeting with current commissioners
and county employees while studying
commission budgets and guiding
principles. A commitment to community
safety and the well-being of children
drive Kristin to enter the political
arena. If elected, she will use
her skills as a problem-solver
and team builder to enhance the
already efficient County Board.
